Each year since 2011 Hitchhiker fans and Douglas Adams fanatics vote to democratically decide on a representative for Earth as the Intergalactic Towel Day Ambassador. Contestants are asked to make a two minute YouTube video, explaining why they would be right for the job.
Once elected, a Towel Day Ambassador takes the job for life. Their responsibility is to preach the good word of the Frood, and to remind us to always know where our towels are. It is considered among the highest honors in the Galactic Hitchhikers community to be voted as the Towel Day Ambassador, essentially each year fans vote for who will become a part of the fandom, and represent the hoopiest among us.
