Day of the Frood: Celebrating the Birthday of Douglas Adams
Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-two million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue green planet. On this planet, on March the 11th of the 1952nd year since someone started counting, Douglas Noel Adams was born.
The Frood would have been 68 today. While we had to say “so long, and thanks for all the fish” far too soon, today is not a day to mourn. Today a smile on all of our faces was born, and that is certainly cause for celebration!
From Douglas Adams we learned that life is far too ridiculous to be taken all too seriously. He showed us another way of seeing things, even if it was from behind a towel while hiding from the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal.
Today, let’s celebrate his life, the universe he created, and everything he means to us. We all have that favorite bit, or a quote that always gets us. Whatever it is, your favorite scene, a meme, a quote, share it today. If Douglas Adams made you smile, share that smile. #Frood
There is a worldwide smile shortage, after all.
